À propos des documents

La Commission des héritiers et légataires est fondée en vue de clarifier les titres de propriété des terres du Haut-Canada.

Bibliothèque et Archives Canada possède la plupart des documents de la Première Commission (1797 à 1804) et certains des documents de la Seconde Commission (1805 à 1854).

Les documents comprennent:

  • des certificats de localisation
  • des procurations
  • des décrets
  • des copies de testaments
  • des emprunts
  • des contrats de vente
  • des lettres de témoins

Ordre des documents sur les bobines de microfilm

Les documents sont classés par district, puis par type de document (RG1 L5, volumes 1 à 104, microfilms H-1133 à H-1153). Il n’y a pas d’index des noms.

Une description détaillée du contenu de chaque volume se trouve au début de chaque bobine de microfilm.
