Résumé
The Charlevoix landscape has undergone numerous representations since the mid-nineteenth century. It was interpreted as a predominantly rural world, where the community remains committed to its traditional values, is culturally homogeneous and is united by tight community bonds and by the Catholic faith. Does it conform to the reality expressed through the links established between Charlevoix and its territory since the late seventeenth century? Has this image had an influence on the evolution of landscape and man-land relationships? These are the main questions the author tries to answer in this study. Based on careful study of large scale personal data and the analysis of artistic production undertaken on the regional landscape, the author can conclude that the construction in Charlevoix of a mythic landscape of French Canada's pressed the Romantic aesthetic Anglo-Saxon and its rejection of capitalist industrial society and on the myths and ideologies national Canadian and Quebec in training. These representations had a significant effect on the changing regional landscape by introducing new economic activity that will engage the territorial local population by providing an additional source of cash enabling him to maintain his power time mode social reproduction based on the establishment of the largest possible number of son in agriculture. In exchange, the tourist will benefit citizens of other services at low cost and direct contact with a unique natural environment and a traditional rural society.
