Résumé
"In late gestation, fetal endogenous glucocorticoids increase exponentially. This dramatic increase in glucocorticoids acts to mature several organ systems. As a result, synthetic glucocorticoids (sGCs) are administered to pregnant women at risk of delivering pre-term (>10% of all pregnancies). While this treatment is highly effective in the fetal lung, little is known concerning its long-term consequences in humans. Animal studies have demonstrated that offspring prenatally exposed to sGCs are at risk of behavioral abnormalities and modifications in hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and endocrine function; this involves long-term changes in gene expression.
