The 2014 Fall Report of the Auditor General of Canada examined whether Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has fulfilled its responsibilities for acquiring and preserving government documentary heritage from federal institutions, and for facilitating access to these records for current and future generations. LAC accepted the Auditor General’s recommendations. In the fall of 2014, LAC approved a plan to eliminate a backlog of 98,000 containers of Government of Canada documentary heritage by December 2015.
LAC announced in December 2015 that the backlog had been eliminated.
