Library and Archives Canada (LAC) currently offers limited seats by reservation at 395 Wellington Street in Ottawa for visitors who need to consult the collection and resources. Starting on June 27, 2022, reservations are not required.

Order material
Please note that most collection material is stored off site, and there are limited deliveries per week.
To visit our rooms or order documents, you must have a user card.
Archival Documents, Restricted and Special Collections
Please request your material through the
Material Retrieval Request form 10 days in advance of your visit date. A clerk will contact you once your material is ready.
Please note that access to documents may be affected by the move of a large part of the collection to our new Preservation Storage Facility in Gatineau. For more information, see the

Published Documents
As of June 20, 2022, you can order your published documents through the
