LAC Ottawa: Public service point closed and temporary suspension of copy services

In light of the recent health and safety recommendations from the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) Ottawa must make the following changes to its service offering.

Our facility at 395 Wellington Street in Ottawa will be closed to the public starting on April 3. Clients who had previously booked a visit will be contacted by email.

Additionally, we are temporarily suspending our copy services. Starting on April 2, we will not accept any new copy requests except for the specific collections located in Winnipeg and in Vancouver. This measure will allow us to reduce the movement of staff and the handling of collections.

However, we will continue to process previously submitted requests to the best of our capabilities.

Visit our Reopening Library and Archives Canada for region-specific details.

Rest assured that we will resume these services as soon as possible. In the meantime, our Reference and Genealogy teams will continue to help researchers navigate our website and pursue their research via digital collections. Contact us by using our Ask Us a Question or Ask Us a Genealogy Question forms, or by calling 1-866-578-7777 (option 8; toll-free in Canada and the United States).
