As the country responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada is taking exceptional measures to protect the health and safety of all Canadians, including its own workforce.
I would ask you to read this message very attentively, all the way through to the end. It covers many important matters that affect all LAC employees.
To ensure the safety of our staff and in compliance with the exceptional measures recommended by public health authorities to help limit the spread of COVID-19, LAC is today affirming that effective immediately, and until further notice, employees should work from home.
Some exceptions will however apply. Management teams will be identifying and contacting those staff members who will be called upon to provide or support priority services for LAC. Among these may be employees who will not be able to telework and will have to come into the office. In these specific cases, employees and their managers will determine how the work will be carried out.
Whether you are teleworking or unable to do so—either because of the nature of your job or due to not having access to the required technology—you need to touch base with your manager at the start of each day. Employees who are unable to telework will be granted "other paid leave" (code 699) in accordance with their collective agreements.
Our buildings will remain open for employees who are required to be on site, need to pick up documents and/or their laptop, or need technical support for their IT equipment. If you come to one of our buildings, you will be required to sign in and out with the commissionaires. This procedure will be applied every time anyone enters or exits a building, and will allow us to locate all occupants should we need to evacuate the premises due to the COVID-19 situation or for any other reason.
You are reminded that if you have symptoms, have contracted COVID-19, are awaiting a diagnosis or have been in contact with COVID-19 in any way, you must not come to the office and inform your manager immediately.

I realize that a situation such as this one can be stressful for many of you. LAC reminds you that the Employee Assistance Services (1-800-268-7708) are available any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The program's services are available via telephone or online.You should keep up to date with the latest news about COVID-19 from reliable sources like Canada.ca/coronavirus. In order to remain apprised of the status of LAC's operations and buildings, we also ask that you keep your manager's contact information and the Emergency and Business Continuity Info-Line number handy. It will be updated on a daily basis.
LAC will continue to inform you on this situation. However, we recognize that not all employees may have access to emails, or that service may be disrupted. The emergency lines listed above and LAC's website remain valuable resources for key messages from LAC to its staff.
