New archival information system: request for information issued to suppliers

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is continuing its work to modernize and renew its systems.

After tackling the renewal of its library system and having started to test its new digital asset management system, LAC is looking to establish a new archival information system (AIS) for its analogue and digital government and private archives collections.

The description of archival resources will be at the heart of this transformation intended to meet Canadians’ expectations for better access to the archival collection. Establishing a new archival information system will also allow LAC to implement effective use of new technologies to improve archival management and promote the discovery of the collection.

With the help of Public Services and Procurement Canada, the central purchaser for the federal government, LAC has just issued a request for information (RFI) to suppliers. The purpose of the RFI process is not only to ask suppliers to demonstrate their abilities to meet project requirements, but also to provide ideas and suggestions on how a potential bid solicitation could be structured. Please note that at the end of this request for information process, no products will be acquired and no contracts will be awarded.
