An out-of-this-world menu, very “spatial”!

What does an astronaut eat on a space mission? We might think of dehydrated food, nutritional pills, or something from a sci-fi movie!

Well, we can answer this question! In our archives, we have the menus of Canadian Space Agency astronaut Julie Payette (PDF 10.8 MB). She was on the STS-96 mission, and her meals sound very tasty!

On May 27, 1999, NASA’s Space Shuttle Discovery launched from Kennedy Space Center with an international crew of seven astronauts under the command of Kent Rominger. On its third day, the STS-96 crew marked a historic milestone: the first shuttle to dock at the International Space Station. Julie Payette had the honour of being the first Canadian astronaut to enter the space station.
