    Trade grouping

The pay level for RCAF personnel employed in trades was based on their level of expertise. Beyond the standard enlistment level, most trades have three levels of proficiency, “A” group, “B” group, and “C” group, with “A” group being the highest level.

An officer or airman is assigned to a trade group after his qualifications have been established by an examination called a “trades test”. For trade group pay see the RCAF pay table.
