Plank Road Plan Map - 3rd Field Company, Canadian Engineers

War Diaries

The following page is a plan from the war diary of a Canadian engineer unit. The plan shows a plank road, which was necessary due to the muddy ground conditions.  According to the map's legend, the engineers built both double and single width plank roads that were intersected by duck board "walks".
