- A short amateur film of the 39th Annual Skating Club Carnival 1951, in Toronto. The film begins with shots of Barbara Gratton, and Elizabeth Gratton skating together in all-white outfits. They play the part of 'Swiss Misses' in the first act of the Ice Carnival programme entitled 'Edelweiss.' Next are shots of Barbara Ann Scott skating solo in a black and yellow outfit and matching umbrella, possibly part of the first Act of the programme entitled 'Edelweiss.' The film follows with Act 14 of the Ice Carnival Programme entitled 'Cats and the Mouse'. The programme identifies the mouse as Freddie Trenkler (professional comedian), and the cats as J. Farris, T. Osborne, and F. Lucas, professional skaters. Barbara Ann Scott and Sheldon Galbraith skate together in Act 13 of the Ice Carnival programme entitled 'Midnight Fantasy.' In this part of the programme, Sheldon Galbraith is dressed as a Naval Officer and Barbara Ann Scott plays the 'Flower Seller.' Barbara Ann Scott appears at the end of the film dressed in a glittering Princess outfit in Act 15 of the Ice Carnival programme entitled 'Barbara Ann Scott'.

- 1. A copy of the 39th Annual Toronto Skating Club Carnival is included in the collection file.
- 2. At the time, Miss Barbara Gratton was runner-up Junior Lady Champion of Canada, 1949, and Junior Lady Champion of Canada, 1950. Miss Elizabeth Gratton was Junior Lady Champion of Canada 1951, and runner-up Junior Lady Champion of Canada, 1950.
- 3. Sheldon Galbraith was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved at an early age to California. Mr. Galbraith was a U.S. Navy pilot during WWII, and joined the Minto Skating Club, Ottawa, for the 1946-1947 seasons. He trained Barbara Ann Scott for both her overseas journeys in quest of world honours. In 1948 he was official coach for Canada's Olympic figure skating team.
- 4. In 1948 Barbara Ann Scott won the Olympic gold medal in women's figure skating, at St. Moritz, Switzerland. At the time this film was shot, Barbara Ann Scott was also the former Canadian, North American, European, and World's Lady figure skating champion.
