We have been experiencing problems with missing records in Collection Search since June 24. Residential school records are among those not displaying properly. This is a temporary situation and LAC is actively working to solve the problem.
In the meantime, here are some other ways to find records relating to residential schools:
You can also view records free of charge at the Canadiana collections website:
If you need assistance searching these records, please contact LAC Reference Services via the
Ask Us a Question form or by phone at 1-866-578-7777, option 8.
You may find other useful information relating to residential schools on
LAC’s Indigenous Heritage page, in the "Indian residential schools" section.
The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation’s database also contains copies of the residential school records mentioned above.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this situation may cause.
