Canada. Transport Canada. Policy and Coordination Group : The Policy and Coordination Group was formed on 15 December 1985 with the amalgamation of the Policy Group, the Strategic Group, and various policy offices existing within the Department's operational sectors. The Group is currently responsible for the formulation, development and maintenance of the Department of Transport's long-range transportation objectives, strategies, and policies with respect to non-operational (non-modal specific) issues, as well as for monitoring approximately twenty-seven legislative Acts related to the transportation industry. Policies which relate to the operational aspects of transportation in Canada are primarily developed within their relevant operational sector (Aviation, Marine and Surface). In addition, the Coordination Group is responsible for liaison between the various groups in Transport Canada as well as with other departments, governments, provinces, industry, international organizations and special agencies.
