This is a limited selection of official photographs provided by Australian authorities as part of a photography exchange at the end of hostilities. These photographs are a record of the Australian Imperial Force's (AIF) military activities in Europe, including the Gallipoli campaign in the Dardanelles (P series), and the AIF fighting on the Western Front (E Series).

Custodial history:

These photographs were acquired by the Department of Militia and Defence, and were maintained by the Department of National Defence until transferred to the Public Archives in 1963.
They are a selection of official photographs which were exchanged after the end of hostilities between British, Australian, and Canadian military authorities to help provide a broader record of military activities of Allied Commonwealth nations in the First World War.
