Literary Censorship in Quebec: Books under Pressure Exhibition

We did not have the right to read them! Library and Archives Canada invites you to visit its new exhibition Literary Censorship in Quebec: Books under Pressure, a Gatineau Reading Town event held as part of the Gatineau 2017 festivities.

Come and see ten beautiful books from our collection, dating from 1873 to 1978. Perceived as detrimental to public morality, works such as Le centurion or Les fées ont soif were removed from circulation or banned by political and religious authorities of the time.

May 8 to 12, 2017
9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Library and Archives Canada
550, de la Cité Boulevard
Gatineau, Quebec

Admission is free.
