Summer 2020

Fred Sebastian fonds

This accrual to the Fred Sebastian fonds, which holds a wealth of work by one of Canada’s top editorial cartoonists, contains original drawings, paintings and illustrations published in newspapers and magazines on political and social topics from the 1980s onward.

Spring 2020

Cinémaginaire Inc. fonds

(Accrual, R9489, MIKAN 5054011)

The most recent accrual to this fonds is the feature film La Chute de l’empire américain (2018). This is the latest film written and directed by Denys Arcand. It was acquired through LAC’s Telefilm Canada acquisition program.

Lucille Teasdale and Piero Corti fonds

(Accrual, R5335, MIKAN 179765)

These accruals to the fonds consist of textual records, photographs and films documenting the private life, medical careers and humanitarian work of Lucille Teasdale and Piero Corti at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Uganda.

Winter 2020

Cecil-Ross Society fonds

(Accrual, R13973)

This fonds includes 491 hours of oral history interviews with members and former members of, and those who had contact with, the Communist Party of Canada. Textual records include transcripts, a glossary and some correspondence.

Peter Vincent fonds

(R16071)

Donated by the designer of the exterior graphics of the Confederation Train, this fonds contains artworks including drawings, collages and model train cars used in creating the external graphics for this moving national museum that crossed the country in 1967.

Fall 2019

Colonization and Agriculture Department and Canadian National Land Settlement Association Series

(R231/RG30, MIKAN 180433 ) This series (within RG30) contains records created by the Canadian National Railways Office of the Director of Colonization and Agriculture, 1919–1963. They document the railway’s efforts to assist immigrants to settle on farmland in Canada. Included are files with photographs of immigrants, correspondence and progress reports.

George R.B. Kinney fonds

(Accrual, R8766 , MIKAN 189416 )

A sketchbook by the Reverend George R.B. Kinney (1872–1961), based in British Columbia, recording his time as a stretcher-bearer in France in the First World War. Kinney was a mountaineer, founding member of the Alpine Club of Canada, photographer and filmmaker (active circa 1926–1940).

Lambart family fonds

(Accrual, R1398, MIKAN 105726 )

This addition to the Lambart family collection consists of two rustic cotton appliqué patches by Canadian director Evelyn Lambart, approximately 250 zinc cut-outs created for an animated film, and a watercolour entitled Pantheon du quai Hôtel de Ville.
