    The Nakoda language is a Siouan language spoken in present-day Alberta, related to but distinct from the Nakota (Assiniboine) language spoken in the plains in present-day Saskatchewan and Montana. This language is part of the Dakota subgroup of the Mississippi Valley grouping of the Siouan languages.
