Cataloguing in Publication

Introduction

Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) is a voluntary program of cooperation between publishers and libraries, coordinated by Library and Archives Canada. It enables the cataloguing of books before they are published, and allows for the prompt distribution of cataloguing information to booksellers and libraries.

The Cataloguing in Publication service for Federal Government publications has been discontinued.

Library and Archives Canada will continue to provide cataloguing records for published federal government publications freely available through AMICUS, our online catalogue. Should you require International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN) or catalogue numbers for Government of Canada publications, please use Public Services and Procurement Canada’s form, “Apply for ISBN/Catalogue Number.”
