The value of one. The power of many.
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is developing a resource that encourages nationwide collaboration among stakeholders and memory institutions, and engages Canadians to discover their vast documentary heritage.
Currently, The Power of the Communities is an online directory of over 125 memory and knowledge institutions across Canada - and it is still growing! Users can browse or search a wide range of institutional profiles, ranging from the public to private sector, and regional, territorial, provincial and national archives, libraries, universities, associations, and councils. All institutions must have mandates related to the preservation of Canadian memory.
As it grows, The Power of the Communities will be a valuable research tool that facilitates resource discovery and highlights the diversity and richness of Canada's documentary heritage.
