Supporting our Documentary Heritage – New Memorandum of Understanding with l'École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l'information

Dr. Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, and Dr. Tania Saba, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, are pleased to announce the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Library and Archives Canada and the l'École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information (EBSI) at the Université de Montréal.

Under the agreement, they will pool their specialized knowledge and skills to collaborate on their rich collections. They will also make available their respective facilities in order to contribute to the scientific advancement of library and archival sciences. A student placement program and various workshops and training activities will notably be used to achieve this goal.

Professors, students and staff are also at the heart of the agreement. Library and Archives Canada and EBSI will collaborate on cultural activities and seminars, conferences and exhibitions.

The institutions have struck a joint coordinating committee that will oversee the various activities covered by the MOU.

The Memorandum of Understanding will run for five years, effective November 11, 2016.
