On January 11, 2017, Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, and Alberto Manguel, Director of the National Library of Argentina, signed a memorandum of understanding on collaboration between their two institutions.
The agreement encourages the sharing of information and expertise as well as the development of programs and services to benefit the two cultural organizations and their users.
Joint library activities will include information sharing on digitizing collections, digital-resource management, and storage of information resources in the organizations' respective national collections.
This collaboration agreement will be in effect until 2020, complementing others concluded in the past 12 months with national memory institutions in China, Korea, France and the United Kingdom. These efforts are in keeping with Library and Archives Canada's evolving priorities as it strives to be on the leading edge of archival science, library science and new technologies, and to continue to play an active role in national and international networks.
