Working with The National Archives of the UK to commemorate the Battle of Vimy Ridge

On September 7, Dr. Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, and Mr. Jeff James, Chief Executive and Keeper of The National Archives of the United Kingdom (UK), signed an agreement that will allow the two nations to have a virtual conversation commemorating the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Each nation will share its unique perspective on this important battle.

April 2017 will mark the 100th anniversary of this historic First World War battle, and both institutions have agreed to collaborate on social media products to bring the experience of the battle to online visitors. Anticipated products include blog posts co-written by representatives of the two countries, a podcast episode with experts from both institutions, and a historical project to commemorate the battle’s centennial. Details of the project, which is currently titled "One Hundred Years Ago Today," are being finalized.

The various social media products will be launched in April 2017.
